Back in Sudbury

I'm in Sudbury this week. Visiting friends, voting etc. Went for a great walk with dear friend JJ today in the new Assabet Wildlife Refuge. We took a route new to us and now we understand the "Tri-town" trail. Its a great area if you haven't been there...

Back in Vermont for a few days.

I am back at Okemo to finish a few repairs to the house before the Winter. I have taken a couple of nice hikes.  These photos my first day are from a climb to the Okemo fire tower.  Yes that is snow that you see!!!  The streams are running strong from the Fall melting.
I hope this early snow bodes well from some great skiing this Winter...

A joyous wedding day...

It was a joyous day for our family yesterday as our eldest son Evan got married.  He is in the US Army currently stationed in Bamberg Germany.  His bride is from a local town - Beyreuth.  The day started with a civil ceremony in Bamberg and then we went on to Dani's home town for a church service.  The church was a beautiful 800 year old structure.

It was a cold rainy day but it didn't deter us.  Even the fact that the brides car broke down on the way couldn't deter them...

It is a little difficult to post photos here on my netbook so many are missing and I think some are sideways.  Oh well I will fix it all when I return to the States.  Just wanted to post something for those at home.

Evan deploys to Afghanistan December 4 so they don't have much time to make many memories........

Okay, now this service is over so we convene all our cars to drive to Dani's hometown for a church ceremony...

Okay, she is yours NOW

This could be the next happy couple!

Pat still rockin' in those blue shoes!!!

More posts coming...

I will post photos of a great hike I had last weekend.  I hiked for 4 hours - got terribly lost - had to tree-whack to find my way out and came home with poison oak, must learn what that plant looks like.

Have to go pack now.  Leaving for Germany on Sunday.  For all those who know my eldest Evan, he is getting married on October 15 to Daniela Vogel.  They met a year ago in Germany.  We have been together a few times and they are very much in love.

Evan deploys to Afghanistan on November 19 so they decided to move their plans up.  It will be an exciting time. Tom & Pat and I are going over for the festivities.  Kyle won't be able to join us as he has a final interview with BCG for their LA office - am I excited about the job and LA - you better believe it.  He has worked very hard on his job search (now a senior at Duke) and can't quite believe he has made it to this point - they are flying him out to meet the "team".

It should be an exciting week coming up for the Meller/Gerbe's.

Dearest friends Peter and Emily Lynch (on left)
Ta ta for now.

Almost forgot!!!

Bill and Amanda treated me to a Bob Weir, Phil Lesh concert at the Santa Barbara bowl.  The venue is great, the music was memorable but the real fun was taking Jasper with us.  He joined Dead Heads young and old in all the fun...

Back to Santa Barbara

I'm staying with Bill and Amanda for the next ten days until I leave on a 6 week journey.

I got back just in time to celebrate Jasper's 2nd birthday.  So fun!

And only one thing left to Top Yosemite on the way home...

A drive down the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).  I spent the night in nowhere - Fresno.  Continued on the next day toward the Monterey Peninsula.  When I arrived there it was socked in, in fog.  I didn't do the peninsula but continued farther South where the air was warming.

It was a long wonderful drive down the coast.  I am learning that California has a lot of natural beauty...
